Naiad Table stacked and carved mahogany top size: approx 60" x 30" height = 16" the size and shape of the top is optional A little about the history of this piece: I made it as an entry for one of the League of NH Craftsmen juried shows in the mid 80's.The show was in Keene, NH and their "professional" juror rejected it. The following year I entered it in the League show at Portsmouth but never saw the exhibition. It was "the hit of the show" according to a friend who was at the opening. I originally called it my Betty Friedan table but dropped the sarcasm when the naiad idea came into play. In representing a water nymph it became, for me, a symbol of the subconscious and the way the subconscious supports waking life. I saw the glass top as representing both the surface of the water and the divide between conscious and subconscious. Of course, some will only see it as a woman under glass. Alas. Aside from all of that, it's a nice piece. It has held up well and requires very little maintenance -- unlike other naiads I have known. I woud like to sell it because I don't really have the space for it. I probably put $10,000 worth of labor into it...would sell it for half that. Please contact me if you want more information or would like to make an offer
